Bereaved by suicide?

When suicide takes someone from your family or friends, the grief can be overwhelming and hard to speak aloud. We want to be there for you, as you find your way through one of the most painful losses there is.

Grief after suicide can feel different from other kinds of loss. Alongside the sadness there can be shock, guilt, anger, and questions that may never have answers. It can feel isolating — as though the people around you don't quite know what to say.

You are not alone, and you don't have to carry this by yourself. Feeling the weight of a loss to suicide doesn't have to be about a recent bereavement, either — grief can surface months or even years later, and you're just as welcome then.

Whether you are a parent, a sibling, a partner, a child, or a friend, and whether your loss was weeks ago or long in the past, there is a place for you here.

Being met by people who understand

Our suicide bereavement support brings together people who have lived through similar losses. There's no need to explain or justify how you feel — just to be heard, gently and without judgement, by others who truly know.

Our bereavement support

The suicide bereavement group

MonthlyWednesday evening, 6–8pm

Suicide bereavement peer support group

A safe, held space for anyone bereaved by suicide. The evening may begin in a gentle structured format, but it flexes around the people in the room and the conversations that matter most on the night. Please contact us to book a place before coming along.

To join: because this is a smaller, held group, we ask that you book in first. Email info@behindthesmile.care or call or text 07999027313 and we'll gently talk you through what to expect.

Support that stays with you

Many people bereaved by suicide tell us they received little or no support after their loss. We want to change that. Alongside the monthly group, you're welcome to ask about one-to-one listening and our wellbeing walks, where conversation comes more easily side by side.
