Need help? · Support for yourself
If you're experiencing anxiety, stress or low mood, family or relationship difficulties, or simply feeling alone and overwhelmed, you don't have to carry it by yourself. Our mental health peer support is here for you.
Lots of us reach a point where things feel like too much. Life can pile up — worry, exhaustion, grief, loneliness, or a low mood that's hard to shift — and it can feel like no one really understands. At Behind the Smile, you'll be met by people who genuinely do.
Our groups aren't clinical and there's no pressure to "perform" or explain yourself. They're a warm, welcoming space to sit with a cuppa, talk if you want to, listen if you'd rather, and feel a little less alone.
Being heard by someone who has walked a similar path can be quietly powerful. Our peer support offers connection, understanding and practical strategies shared by people who've found their own ways through.
Ways we can support you
Mixed and single-gender groups where people meet, socialise and talk over mental health topics — or simply enjoy good company and a chat.
Sometimes it helps to talk quietly with one person. Ask us about one-to-one support from a trained volunteer.
Gentle walks where you can talk about what's on your mind, or just breathe and enjoy the fresh air alongside others.
You're welcome to just turn up to a drop-in group, or to message us first if that feels easier. Email info@behindthesmile.care or call or text 07999027313 and we'll help you find the right group.
There's no wrong reason to make contact, and no pressure once you do.
